What is eXpresso?

eXpresso is a secure, sophisticated online subscriber resource where you can create communities to perform any number of Office file editing or interaction tasks faster, easier, and more securely than any other way.

eXpresso's unique architecture enables a set of rich services never before available for Microsoft Office files.

  Upload your Office files to eXpresso's secure server. Access your files from any computer, anytime, anywhere. Don't worry about being separated from your most important files (you never are). Issue invitations to anyone to view, edit, or download specified files online.
• Set Alerts and be Notified of Changes
  Receive an email alert when your file is accepted, edited, or downloaded  by a member of your community. eXpresso documents the history of every file to give you an audit trail for personal productivity or regulatory compliance.

Interact On Line While Tracking Versions
Meet simultaneously for interactive editing with IM capability, or ask an associate ten time zones away to update next week's production forecast while you are sleeping. eXpresso is safer, faster, and more convenient than email for exchanging sensitive spreadsheet information.

Is eXpresso a new Office-like Application?

No. eXpresso is not an on-line  replacement for Microsoft Office. Rather than providing a new application with new commands and user functions, eXpresso takes advantage of the fact that millions of people are already using Office. Those people don't want to replace Office; they want to make it more conducive to the way they do business.

What software do I need to use eXpresso?

eXpresso is a hosted application which means all you need to use eXpresso is a Microsoft Office license and a web browser with Internet Explorer 6 or later.   For more details about software requirements and compatibility, check our Getting Started page.

Can I work on my files when I am not connected to the Internet?

Sure. You can download the  eXpresso Add-in which is allows you to open files directly on your desktop. You can work on them and then synchronize them with eXpresso when you are back online.

Must I have a particular version of Microsoft Office?

eXpresso is compatible with Office 2003 and 2007.  eXpresso supports .xls, .doc and .ppt files.  Therefore, users of Office 2007 will need to save their files as Office 97-2003 files before uploading them to eXpresso.

How do I know that my information is secure?

eXpresso utilizes some of the most advanced technology for Internet security available today. We provide you with a unique user name and password that must be entered each time you log on. In addition, eXpresso is hosted in a secure server environment that uses a firewall and other advanced technology to prevent interference or access from outside intruders.

Additionally, eXpresso utilizes Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.  SSL protects your information using both server authentication and data encryption, ensuring that your data is safe, secure, and available only to you or those you have authorized.

Can I share a file with someone who is not a registered eXpresso user?

Yes. You can simply enter the email address of the person you would like to access your spreadsheet. They will receive an email with your invitation and instructions on how to complete a free trial registration.

Can two or more people edit the same file at the same time?

Yes, but mutiple user collaboration works differently for each type of file.  Please review this Quick Quide to Muitple User Collaboration for details.

When I share a file, is it sent in an email?

No. eXpresso does not email files. Instead, it sends a link to the file to those you invite. This way, you are in control of who can access your file and what privileges or "roles" they are assigned.
